''there may be bundles of it on the floor but you will still have long hair''

So, even though I've been hairdressing for 5 years now I still like to refresh my knowledge. It is so easy to fall into the same routine over and over again! To all fellow stylists- if your using that same sectioning pattern for every haircut/colour you do ... its time to refresh!! I'm guilty of this crime too! Don't get me wrong  Its good to stick with what you know will work well but if hairdressing legends never took those risks they wouldn't be where they are now!

  Anyway, every six weeks or so my work pals and I have a creative training evening with JR, former - Eastern Stylist of the year and Avant Garde Finalist. I was lucky enough to work and be trained by this wonderful character and to get a front row seat insight to the way he creates.

  My model was extremely easy going (which is always a help!) but her one wish was to keep her long hair! I  learnt so much from this little haircut and that you can really push the boundaries and end up with something exciting!- be daring and take a few risks. I wish blogging came with a 360 view because the texture had a real rock and roll feel once i was finished with it! 

As technical as this haircut was it still has an editorial finish and is do-able for the client

Sassoon SS13 The Muses Collection

Thought I'd add a little post of Sassoon's S/S collection. I'm always a big fan of their work and they are a huge inspiration

I'm not going to ramble on, its just mainly for the images, the gentlemen has to be my favorite image, great use of colour and texture within a really bold haircut.

the S&S13 merge

 Hey!

Thought I'd share some of my color work from the last few weeks!

I find that generations above me are far more dramatic with their hair than us young-ens!

We are most definitely still in winter, however I try to move my clients into their spring/summer colors earlier on!

I'm working on coming away from deeper shades and merging into adding lighter slices/pieces, to give us a new base to work on when the sun hits us!!

Cutting work in first 3 pictures are by a gentlemen who I work closely with, he creates sharp, geometric cuts which give me an exciting platform to work on.

Month in photos

So poor old January is always labeled worst month of the year with post Christmas and new years blues but to be honest I've had the loveliest January ever! I see a lot of month/week in pictures so thought I'd join in too! 

1- my Carvela bargains 2- joined the Graze box clan 3-yellow cigarette pants, looks fab both in winter&summer 4- ootn 5- bathroom decor 6- purchased a cheeky bowler 7- center parcs 8- waking up to a snowy morning at center parcs 9- Jo Malone Sweet Lemon cologne (mmm) 10- wandering the streets of LDN 11- new year new hair 12-walks with becky&molly 13- dinner at the deli 14- getting my eBay head on! wardrobe-old clothes = new clothes! 15- I had to buy the grey too ...

A fine blend

Just dip dyed my friend Laura's hair. Being a fussy hairdresser its taken a long thought process to work out the best technique in dip dyeing and im so happy with how this has turned out! Rather than doing the same depth of lightness all the way through I blended it with different strengths and lightener. This way you achieve more golden through mid lengths and a brighter blonde though the ends! I think at a later date we can go even blonder but due to colour build up on the ends it was an effort to lift! Also it's cool having a gradual change- keeps it
More interesting ! I like to take my clients on a journey rather then taking them straight to the destination!

Something new

So I thought I'd trade my bleachy blonde locks for the golden dip-dyed effect! It's still going strong and I predict (and hope) it sticks around for a bit longer! I have so many dark haired clients who want me achieve the dip-dyed effect and I have to say its so much easier when your already blonde! I use L'oreal products and this was a semi permanent 8.34 (8= light blond 3= gold 4=copper) a perfect mix for a natural warm shade! I applied to the roots and mid lengths then whacked some conditioner on the ends! Try it out or come to me :) The Pavilion , Norwich or Zu Hair, Pakefield :)
